1. Cedar City derived its name from the settlement called Fort Cedar due to the abundance of cedar trees…which were actually juniper trees.

2. Cedar City is known as the gateway to the parks. There are 5 national parks or monuments located less than a few hours away.

3. Cedar City is home to Southern Utah’s first University. Founded in 1897 as a state college, it was later named Southern Utah University on February 14, 1990
