Over 30 years we have gathered the largest index of missionary scriptures.  Each one of these scriptures has been used for a missionary plaque.

Below is a list of the 10 most popular missionary plaque scriptures!

#10:

Starting off our countdown are the words of the Savior to his apostles after his resurrection.  In modern day times, thousands of missionaries have heard these words and continue to heed the Saviors teachings.

Mark 16:15

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

#9:

Next we go to the first section of the Doctrine & Covenants.  Joseph Smith speaks to the Elders of the church regrading missionary work.

Doctrine & Covenants 1:23

That the fulness of my gospel might be proclaimed by the weak and the simple unto the ends of the world, and before kings and rulers.

#8:

Another powerful revelation given in the presence of 12 apostles by Joseph Smith leads us to #8 on our countdown.  One of the most stirring missionary scriptures has become a very popular choice from missionaries all around the globe.

Doctrine & Covenants 42:6

And ye shall go forth in the power of my Spirit, preaching my gospel, two by two, in my name, lifting up your voices as with the sound of a trump, declaring my word like unto angels of God.

#7:

Before we leave the Doctrine & Covenants we have to mention this jewel found in section 18.  This scripture has motivated many church members to fulfill full-time missions.

Doctrine & Covenants 18:15

And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!

#6:

One of the most humble missionaries in the Book of Mormon was Alma the Younger.  His words remind all missionaries that success should be attributed to God’s strength, not ones own.

Alma 29:9

I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

#5:

Another sweet moment found in the Book of Mormon comes at the end of a fatherly discussion between Alma the Younger and his son Corianton.  His words of counsel have been accepted by eager young missionaries all around the world.

Alma 42:31

And now, O my son, ye are called of God to preach the word unto this people. And now, my son, go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have claim upon them. And may God grant unto you even according to my words. Amen.

#4:

King Benjamin’s sermon is quite possibly one of the most stirring speeches of all time.  At the heart of his message, he taught the doctrin of the Plan of Salvation – a key element taught by our misionaries today.

Mosiah 4:9

Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

#3:

This is usually a missionaries favorite scripture after they’ve served.  Every missionary that has served with all their heart will have claim on this wonderful promise given by the Savior.

Matthew 10:39

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

#2:

This scripture comes in at #2 because it has been used frequently by missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  It helps missionaries understand their identity and illustrates they are called of God to preach the gospel.

3 Nephi 5:13

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.

#1:

This leads us to the most popular missionary scripture used for LDS Missionary Plaques.  It comes from the first book in the Book of Mormon as Nephi exclaims with conviction he will keep the commandments of God.  Many of our young missionaries today feel the same way as they heed the call to serve.

1 Nephi 3:7

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
